After Donald Trump Jr. released emails related to the scandal he is facing for meeting with a Kremlin-linked Russian official, his father, President Donald Trump, praised him for the move.

“My son is a high-quality person and I applaud his transparency,” Trump said in a statement read to reporters by White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders during an off-camera briefing.

In that same briefing, Sanders said that it was “ridiculous” to say that Trump Jr.’s actions constituted treason, as some people have suggested, and indicated that the Trump administration was tired of dealing with questions about Russian involvement in the election and wanted to move forward.

“The president is, I would say, frustrated with the process that this continues to be an issue, and he would love for us to be focused on things [like the economy and other policies],” Sanders said.

However, Sanders declined to answer when asked to explain how the emails did not constitute collusion and instead said, “I’ve said all that we’re going to say on that matter.” She also would not explain how the White House would define the term “collusion” if it did not consider Trump Jr.’s emails to be collusion.
