Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are getting ready to welcome a third little one into the world, through a surrogate, in January.
According to Us Weekly, the surrogate, a woman in San Diego who is in her 20s, is already three months pregnant.
The pair decided to expand their family using a surrogate after Kardashian was diagnosed with placenta accreta, a potentially life-threatening condition in which parts of the placenta grow too deeply in the uterine wall. This increases the risk of severe blood loss after birth.
During an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians last year, Kardashian opened up about the fact that she wanted to have another child but was worried about whether or not she would have a different bond with a child she didn’t personally carry and deliver. However, she ultimately decided to listen to her doctors, who told her that trying to get pregnant on her own was risky.
“If the two doctors that I trust have told me it wouldn’t be safe for me to get pregnant again, I have to listen to that,” she said at the time.
The surrogate reportedly appears in a promotional video for potential parents-to-be to explain the process and is an old pro, having previously been a surrogate.
