On Sunday during an appearance at Politicon, Charlamagne tha God was interrupted during his remarks by two women protesting for the trans community.

The protest was sparked by the recent #BreakfastClubBoycott hashtag that cropped up after the show found itself under fire for comments that Lil Duval made suggesting that he would kill a trans woman if he were dating her and found out that she was transgender.

“This might sound messed up and I don’t care — but she’s dying. I don’t care,” he said, going on to add, “If one did that to me and didn’t tell me, I’d probably be so mad I’d kill them.”

During Politicon, the two protesters interrupted Charlamagne’s response by shouting out, “We are not a joke!” and “Trans people are not a joke!”

One of the women continued to chant “we are not a joke” while the other shouted out that Charlamagne had allowed a comedian on his show to belittle the suffering of trans women.

In response, Charlamagne explained to the audience at large what the protesters were there for and said that when Duval had made the “joke,” he “immediately” responded by saying, “No, you can’t do that. That’s a hate crime.”
