Woman dies after butt implant surgery, family calls it murder

A Harlem mother of two died after a buttock enhancement procedure, and her mourning family is now claiming that her death was the result of a murder.

Latesha Bynum, 31, received the injections on July 15 from a person “representing himself as a doctor,” according to Bynum’s family lawyer, Jack Yankowitz.

“This is some sort of underground type of procedure — this is not something that’s done by professional doctors,” he said.

According to her brother, Tymel Bynum, Latesha’s feet turned blue after the procedure. She was placed in the shower twice before being sent home.

“Why wasn’t she taken to medical care? That probably could’ve saved her life,” he said. “That’s murder. Just because the person didn’t pull a trigger, it’s still murder.”

Bynum reportedly received the injections at 1 p.m. and then felt dizzy and experienced chest pain, at which point she reportedly called 911. She was rushed to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced brain dead and taken off life support on Thursday.

Police are currently investigating the incident and awaiting autopsy results.

“My daughter was murdered,” said Bertie Bynum, 51, Latesha’s mother. “I want to know: Why did they kill my baby? Why did they do that. They wasn’t supposed to do that.”

“You killed a mother, you killed a sister!”
