Graham says Trump is a 'changed man'

Don Lemon held firm on the facts with Franklin Graham over Trump hypocrisy

On Tuesday night, Don Lemon blasted evangelical leader Franklin Graham for hypocrisy over Graham’s support of Donald Trump.

Graham, who is the president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, appeared on Lemon’s CNN show amid growing rumors that Trump had an affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels and then paid her to keep quiet during the 2016 presidential election.

The Difference Between Bill Clinton and Donald Trump

On the show, Lemon asked Graham, “Why do you think Evangelicals were so willing to call out, say, Bill Clinton‘s behavior but not President Trump’s?”

Graham tried to rationalize the disconnect by saying that Clinton’s affair was different because he was the president when it happened.

“These alleged affairs, they’re alleged with Trump, didn’t happen while he was in office,” Graham said.

He then tried to dismiss the allegations by saying that he was “more interested in who a person is today” than in their past.

“And I believe that he’s a changed person and I’ve never seen anybody get attacked like he gets attacked,” Graham said, referring to Trump’s continuing insistence that the media was unfairly attacking him.

Lemon didn’t let Graham get away with that excuse, though, pointing to the evidence that Trump hasn’t changed at all, like his tweets disparaging women or the many women who spoke out with story of harassment and assault during the election.

About those Shithole Comments

Clearly in disbelief that a professed moral leader would continue to defend Trump, Lemon also pointed to Trump’s recent reported remarks calling Haiti and African nations “shithole countries.”
But Graham dismissed those stories as well, claiming that the 45th president simply came from a background of business, not politics, and that therefore he was prone to “rough language.”

Graham even took his defense of Trump one step forward and said that “God put him there” in the presidency and the White House.

“We’re all getting helped by Donald Trump’s business expertise coming into Washington,” he said.

Don Lemon was not impressed.
