Mom wearing Alabama sweater walks off when her son picks Florida instead
College is hard enough without your mother being mad about your school of choice.

But his mom, who was wearing an Alabama sweater, clearly wasn’t happy with her son’s choice.
With three hats in front of him representing colleges in Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee, Jacob Copeland decided on the Gators, which prompted his mother to get up and walk away from him, cutting him a dirty look on her way out.

Then No. 40 overall prospect was obviously visibly stunned by his mother’s response, though he did offer some insight on why he chose the school he did.
“God lead me…God led me in the direction that my heart desires and I followed along with it,” Copeland said, according to Blavity.
You’ve got to give him credit for doing what he felt was right even though his mom obviously wanted something else for him. That takes guts.
Copeland’s mother did eventually come back, though, and the two shared an emotional moment including a hug. The reconciliation was also on national television.
Social media sounds off
The clip has since gone viral, with plenty of people on social media sounding off about Copeland’s mother’s actions and criticizing her for not supporting her son.

Many commenters have argued that she should have supported his decision regardless of whatever school he chose. And others have said that even if she couldn’t bring herself to do that, she shouldn’t have pitched a fit on national television and embarrassed her son on what should have been one of the most amazing days of his life.
No matter what the argument, everyone seems to agree: Copeland’s mother did not handle this well.
