This week, they’re tackling Tamar Braxton’s bold, bald look and unpacking her reasons for letting go of the wigs and extensions she has come to be known for.

The singer and star of Braxton Family Values invited her fans to watch while she shaved her head on Instagram last month and revealed the troubling truth about why she rocked wigs and weaves for so long.

According to the singer turned reality star, she maintained blonde locks to please her estranged husband, Vincent Herbert, who constantly reminded her of his affinity for blonde-haired, fair-skinned beauties.

“I believe in being attractive for your mate…I used to have blond wigs. I still have 150,000 at my house since I done shaved my head off,” she said on The Steve Harvey Show. “Vince liked blond-head, light, faired women and I just wasn’t born with no blonde hair. For me, I think that’s just the responsibility that women have is to stay current for your man.”

Braxton spent years dropping major coins and wreaking havoc on her edges just to keep her man interested. Plenty of people were saddened to learn she carried that pressure for so long and celebrated her moment of freedom when she cut it all off.
