Will Smith tapped to close out the World Cup with epic performance

It’s a known fact that Will Smith appeals to the masses so you can’t go wrong when you choose to put him on the world stage at the World Cup.

This Sunday, at Moscow’s Luzhniki stadium, the mega-actor and rapper will perform the World Cup’s closing ceremonies, taking the place of British singer Robbie Williams who flipped the bird at the camera and caused controversy during the opening ceremonies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Williams was set to close out the World Cup, but after the vulgar gesture, he was replaced. You won’t have to worry about Big Willy from Philly kicking up a dust-up since his style of clean rap has kept him in the good graces of audiences around the world for decades.

The question is: Is Russia ready to get Jiggy Wit it?

Smith will perform “Live it Up,” the tournament’s official song, with Nicky Jam and Kosovar singer and songwriter Era Istrefi. More details about the closing ceremony are forthcoming.

A Renaissance Man with Mass Appeal

With his funny Instagram and his wife’s flourishing Facebook Live show, right now Smith is sitting on top of the world – well he at least tried.

Did you catch Smith recently perform Shiggy’s ‘In My Feelings’ Challenge, inspired by Drake’s song, and literally shut the whole challenge down with an epic entry climbing to the top of the famed Chain Bridge in Budapest?

Besides riding a high in Budapest, Smith was recently honored by his hometown which paid homage with the painting of a mural by British artist Richard Wilson.

Wilson reportedly envisioned Smith’s painting in the light of Kehinde Wiley’s presidential portrait of Barack Obama, except that Smith has on more casual attire.

Smith, said it was humbling to learn that Wilson, a renowned artist chose him as his subject to paint a mural which lives on the wall of Gevurtz Furniture store on Girard Ave in the city.

“The idea that there would be a mural of me on the side of a school in West Philadelphia just wrecked me,” said an emotional Smith, wiping away tears in a video about the mural.
