Lamar Odom has confirmed on social media that he is safe after being present during a shooting at a Queens, NY Hooters last week.

According to The New York Daily News, Thursday, the former NBA player was leaving after eating at an outdoor table at the New York restaurant around 12:30 a.m. when another group fired shots after an argument.

Odom and friends got into a “verbal altercation” with some other people: “One witness told cops a man from the other group pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots into the air—nobody was hit.”

The source said Odom was not directly involved with the dispute leading up to the violence, hasn’t been accused of wrongdoing, and is cooperating fully with police.

Tuesday, the 38-year-old former Kardashian husband, broke his silence to let everyone know he was “OK.”

“Thanks for your messages I will try to respond to as many fans I can. Just to share the ‘truth’ here with you all,” he wrote on Instagram. “I was near the scene when it just happened and not involved in any way!”

Authorities are searching for the shooter, but no arrests have been made. Odom’s attorney Saam Zangeneh wants the public to know that his client “is a law-abiding citizen and he did his best to answer all the questions the police had for him.”

What the future holds

Earlier this month, the Queens native made headlines after he announced after signing a “global management contract” that he intends on moving to China to continue playing basketball.

“I feel so happy to be writing new episodes of my life in another country that’s so huge in basketball,” he’d wrote in a now-deleted social media message. “I am so grateful to have you all as my supporting fans through my ups and downs.”

Although Odom hasn’t played professionally since 2013, this latest move didn’t come as too much of a surprise to his fans given he told TMZ in April that he really wanted to return to the court with a team overseas.
