The Download | August 7th: Black Women’s Equal Pay Day + Michelle Obama joins voting initiative + Beyonce’s historic Vogue issue

Today is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day— and women across the country are saying show us the money. On average, Black women working full time jobs year round, only earn 63 cents for every dollar earned by White men.

According to the National Women’s Law Center, Black women lose out on more than $860,000 over a lifetime and that’s money we could use to invest!

Forever Flotus, Michelle Obama, is making sure everyone is ready to vote for the 2018 midterm elections. Obama will be on the road this September for the initiative “When We All Vote.” And speaking of voting, it’s election day in Ohio, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington State– which means black people as a voting bloc need to show up and show out.

And we’re loving Beyonce’s historic Vogue issue featuring the first Black cover photographer for the magazine, 23 year old Tyler Mitchell.

Queen B also opened up about her personal life– including her difficulties with child birth.
