Video game Red Redemption 2 lets players kill Ku Klux Klan members

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A popular video game added a shocking twist that allows players to shoot and kill members of the white supremacist group, Ku Klux Klan, Inverse reports.

The game, Red Dead Redemption II, which was released on Oct. 26, allows players to kill Klan members without penalty. Offing other characters, however, would result in losing points on your “honor meter” but not for a Klan kill. While racism is no laughing matter, neither is the inclusion of the Ku Klux Klan in the game, which displays hooded members burning crosses in the Western-themed action-adventure game.

According to Game Revolution, there are three disturbing scenarios in which you can find the KKK gathering in the game: performing a ceremony to welcome a member, arguing because of low turnout to their rally, and attempting to stand up a cross … and failing.

Players can attack the members while keeping their honor intact.

The game has gone viral and players have posted their shocking reaction to the game.

“In Red Dead Redemption 2. I was hunting in the woods and I come across a KKK cross burning. It was surreal, unexpected, and disturbing,” Ramses Ochoa wrote on Twitter. “This is not a game. It’s an experience.”

“If you come across the KKK in Red Dead Redemption 2 and don’t shoot them all you’re a cop,” wrote David Milner, editor of Game Informer Australia.

No matter which side of the coin you’re on, this is disturbing and normalizes Klan activity, period.

The Proud Boys Hate Group

Activity from white nationalist groups like the Proud Boys has become more prominent in recent weeks.

The NYPD has often been accused of showing preferential treatment to white citizens and conservative groups, and now their critics have a visual aid to prove that point.

Last month, videos and pictures of an alt-right group of predominantly white men who call themselves, the Proud Boys went viral, showing a group of them beating up protesters outside a Republican event in New York City. Even though the incident took place on Friday, according to multiple accounts, none of the attackers have been arrested by the NYPD, even though there were several officers on the scene that night watching the brawl take place.

Leaders of a Manhattan political club known as The Metropolitan Republican Club recently invited their members to an event where they could meet Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, a man who they refer to in their Facebook post as the “Godfather of the Hipster Movement [who] has taken on and exposed the Deep State Socialists and stood up for Western Values.
