Mariah Carey photo with Colin Kaepernick boils racists’ blood — but she’s not sweating it

The songstress hasn't even blinked at people who attacked her for taking a picture with the former NFL quarterback

It appears that some of Mariah Carey’s white fans may have forgotten she’s half-African American.

Recently, the 48-year-old singer posted a picture on Instagram happily standing next to Colin Kaepernick along with the message, “Such an honor to meet @kaepernick7 today!”

Kaepernick has become a polarizing figure and political talking point ever since he and fellow NFL player Eric Reid decided to kneel in protest of nationwide police brutality and injustices towards people of color. Given both he and Carey are biracial, it was no surprise to her Black fans that she would be honored to pose with him.

But that understanding seemed to vary drastically along racial lines. As her white supporters were not only shocked but outraged by what they perceived to be a betrayal. “He is trash and a lying hypocrite,” wrote one while others scolded, “Disappointed u support such a disrespectful man.”

“Dude needs to throw a comb through that hair… loser!!!!” posted yet another, sounding suspiciously Trumpian.

Soon more progressive “lambs,” (Carey’s nickname for her most devoted fans), chimed in and pushed back against the negativity.

“I’m glad all you MAGAts are exiting, stage right,” pushed back a follower who goes by the handle cliftonius. “Always want to exclude the “Blues” in “Rhythm ‘n’ Blues.” The rest of us will be enjoying her concerts in peace without your neo-Confederate nephsons crashing them.”

Carey has yet to respond to the backlash. But with holiday season upon us, she’s already gearing up for her busiest time of the year, when her legendary Christmas anthem will be played constantly all over the world.

Over the weekend, the singer shared a video of herself playing the song in celebration of the first snowfall in New York.

“Look at the snow!” she yelled in the video.”Typically I wait to be in Aspen to play this song for the first time but — look at it!” she added, before opening her window and singing along to her timeless hit.
