TMZ further reports that Freeman was at home in West Covina with her husband, Dion, when she began complaining that she couldn’t breathe. Dion called 911 and performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived, but she was pronounced dead around 5:30 PM in the hospital.
Freeman’s manager told TMZ that the singer had been battling bronchitis and lupus, and that the blood clot was actually in her lungs. Source say that a blood clot traveled to her heart.
Freeman had suffered a series of health blows in her short life – from lupus to cervical cancer, and even meningitis. At the time of her demise, she was a happy survivor that continued to inspire people with her voice.
In spite of her health challenges, that voice of Freeman made her a star.
Knocking out much of the competition, she made it to the top 11 on her season of The Voice. She was on “Team Miley” and continued to stay in touch with the country star even after the show.
Miley was saddened by the news and posted a picture of a rainbow in an Instagram story tribute to Freeman. “Thank you @janicefreeman … for everything. This represents you perfectly,” Cyrus wrote across the photo.
Hudson also paid tribute on social media: “the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!”
