Country music and hip hop fans are coming together on social media after country rocker Billy Ray Cyrus jumped on the remix of Lil Nas X hit song “Old Town Road.”

And based on the reactions of Black Twitter, Cyrus might get invited to perform at the barbecue.

The odd couple came together after the hit by Lil Nas X, whose given name is Montero Lamar Hill, was removed from the Billboard country charts last week, CNN reports.

The song originally became popular on the TikTok app and quickly raced up the Apple Music and Spotify charts, and debuted simultaneously on Billboard’s cross-genre Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.
But last week Billboard pulled it from the country charts.
“Upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard’s country charts,” Billboard said in a statement to Rolling Stone magazine.

Cyrus stepped in with words of support on Twitter, telling Lil Nas X that he was once thrown off the charts and advised by fellow country singer Waylon Jennings to take it as a compliment because it “means you’re doing something great!” Cyrus also wrote, “Only outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!”

“I’m gonna take my horse to the Old Town Road — I’m gonna ride till I can’t no more,” Cyrus crooned in the song widely shared by excited fans of both singers. “Baby’s gotta have a diamond ring and Fendi sports bras. Riding down Rodeo with my Maserati sports car.”
And Lil Nas X clapped back at Billboard execs on the track: “Can’t nobody tell me nothing, you can’t tell me nothing,” he sings. “My life is a movie … Cowboy hat from Gucci.”

As it turns out, Lil Nas X posted a plea to his fans back in December to please help him convince Cyrus to record with him. Cyrus apparently decided to respond, and Lil Nas X released a remix of his song featuring the 57-year-old country singer, dad to singer Miley Cyrus.

Lil Nas X, who tweets as @nope, was all over Twitter expressing gratitude and said that Cyrus even stopped by to offer some support.

“Billy caught me in the studio while I was geeked and gave me some words of inspiration,” Lil Nas X tweeted.

And Black Twitter has officially crowned the track your friday bop.

Kofie Yeboah, social media producer at SBNation, posted video on Twitter of star L.A. Laker LeBron James dancing with the caption, “Billy Ray Cyrus got me like.”

Activist Deray McKesson retweeted a tweet by Intercept editor Michael Whitney, who said, “Guess I’m just listening to Old Town Road remix for the next 17 hours,” to which Deray replied, “Same.”

Threads in response are full of black men in cowboy gear, video of Jay-Z bobbing his head, and even a GIF with Michelle Obama.

#Oscarssowhite hashtag creator April Reign weighed in as well.

And some country music haters are re-evaluating their playlists.

Some folks are already looking to the duo to hit the awards scene.

Cowboy hats are the friday mood.

Lil Nas X posted Friday morning, “This is the most unreal moment of my life so far.”

Maybe all of this is an early birthday present for the rapper, who turns 20 on Tuesday.
