The superstar performer informed her fans on Twitter that she recorded the lively music video only two days before giving birth.

“ATL bred I’m #Rooted. Shot this video 2 days before delivery, Covid style! Out now!” she writes, punctuating the post with the dancing lady emoji.

She and her husband Russell Wilson welcomed baby boy Win Harrison Wilson on July 23, reports theGrio. The newborn is Ciara’s third child after Sienna and her son Future from a previous relationship with the rap star of the same name.

The kids make cameos in the music video.

Directed by Annie Bercy, the “Rooted video showcases Black movements, Black creativity, and Black people. At the end of the video, Ciara shares a message of empowerment.

“Don’t stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope, and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted,” read the glowing gold words against the plain black screen.

The song amplifies messages both in the lyrics and the visual.

“All my songs come with melanin. Got the heart, got the soul like Harriet. A queen since she born, that was evident. That’s evidence, of black excellence” she sings, paying homage to Harriet Tubman.

As she sings of nappy hair, images of Bantu knots, locs, Afros and beards appear onscreen. Her lyrics also celebrate Black motherhood with images of moms and their children as well.

In the four-minute visual shot in multiple places, nods to recent uprisings are shown. A young woman wears an airbrushed T-shirt with Breonna Taylor‘s face that proclaims “Say her name.”

Despite her advanced state of pregnancy, as most Ciara videos do, “Rooted” features some stellar choreography. The singer is shown hitting multiple drop-it-low and body roll moves with her protruding pregnant belly.

The “Body Party” singer also teamed up with Dean for the feel-good track “Melanin” joined by City Girls, Lupita Nyong’o, and La La Anthony.
