After Rihanna’s buzzworthy Super Bowl halftime show in February, where she revealed she was pregnant for the second time while performing a career-spanning medley of her greatest hits in a poppy red utility jumpsuit, the internet became overrun with imitations.

People worldwide created their own versions of the fashion and beauty mogul’s all-red ensemble, layering bodysuits, winter puffer jackets, turtlenecks, and more to pull off their own renditions of her performance attire. Now, as red has overtaken “Barbie pink” as fashion’s most popular color for fall-winter 2023, we can expect to see a few real versions running around.

On Thursday, Loewe, the designer of Rihanna’s iconic jumpsuit for the Super Bowl, released a batch for retail, available for $2,900 online and in select stores, just in time for any Super Bowl-themed Halloween concepts or an early jump on holiday attire. However, while a black option is still available, according to People magazine, the Rihanna-red colorway sold out within 24 hours.

Labeling it a “special edition” release, Loewe explained in social media posts: “The cargo jumpsuit and trousers feature a range of utility details drawing upon flight gear and the halftime show’s dynamic scenography.”

According to the description of the jumpsuit online, it was crafted out of medium-weight cotton canvas and weighs over 2.5 lbs. It includes removable D-ring straps at the knees, an elasticated belt, and zipped pockets at the front. It hasn’t been confirmed how many units of the jumpsuits were sold or, considering how quickly they moved off of the shelves, whether or not there will be a restock.

Since debuting the red utility suit during the Super Bowl, the Fenty Beauty founder has had several other buzzworthy fashion moments this year. A month after the Super Bowl, Rihanna attended the Oscars in three different looks, including a mint green two-piece, a bedazzled sheer stage ensemble, and a leather gown, all of which prominently highlighted her baby bump. In May, Rihanna and partner A$AP Rocky arrived fashionably late to the Met Gala; she dressed in an oversized white cape covered in white blossoms over a white gown, and he in a plaid kilt over denim with a jacket.

It’s worth noting the red jumpsuit isn’t the only custom Loewe look to garner headlines for Rihanna this year. Just a week after the Met Gala, Rihanna debuted a custom maternity look by Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson that featured oversized bi-color faux fur, a grey fuzzy crop top, and a chocolate brown asymmetrical mini leather skirt.

When speaking to Vogue about the now-iconic Super Bowl look, Rihanna’s stylist Jahleel Weaver said keeping her growing baby bump a secret was the “hardest thing to maneuver” when finalizing her looks.

“She didn’t tell me until three weeks before [the Super Bowl]. She finally told me when we were reviewing sketches, and I was like, ‘Is this a joke?’” Weaver said.

Weaver said he would tell the designers working on her looks to “leave a little room” just in case. He didn’t know for sure if she was going to reveal the baby bump or conceal it during the performance and told Vogue he grew emotional watching the whole look come together.

“She has no fear,” he said. “It’s really cool that she is always willing to do what looks cool and new. She doesn’t dumb it down for anyone.”
