Before joining theGrio in October 2022, Kay spent two years in the U.S. Virgin Islands as a staff reporter for the St. Croix Avis, covering the region's culture, art, politics, and daily life. Her previous roles include serving as a reporter and newsletter editor at ThinkProgress and a staff writer at Baltimore STYLE magazine.
