Despite the tumultuous social climate in this country, a new poll from CNN has revealed that President Obama's approval rating is the highest it's been in almost two years.
Despite the tumultuous social climate in this country, a new poll from CNN has revealed that President Obama’s approval rating is the highest it’s been in almost two years.
While most Americans are still dissatisfied with the POTUS, his current 48% approval rating is the best it’s been since May 2013 due to constant improvements in the economy. The spike is due large in part to women, millennials and independents who appreciate the strives he’s made with immigration and relations with Cuba.
Unfortunately men, Republicans and adults aged 35 – 49 are still unmoved by the president’s efforts.
It all amounts to some welcome good news for Obama, whose unpopularity — despite consistently improving economic conditions — led to widespread losses for his party in November’s midterm elections.
But as the recovery powers on, and the days of the downturn fade further into the past, Americans appear to have turned the page in their views of the economy.
Even though many Americans are still cautious, overall attitudes have drastically improved just in the last few months — with 51% feeling positive about the economy compared to just 38% in October. These favorable shifts in perception are present in every demographic, particularly amongst the working class.
Only time will tell what this means in the long run for the Obama administration in its last two years.
