Every year, the student chorus of Public School 22 in Staten Island, N.Y., performs a special song, and this year, it was dedicated to one of their favorite teachers.

The elementary students, led by director Gregg Breinberg, sang a heart-wrenching performance of Martina McBride’s cancer survivor anthem, I’m Gonna Love You Through It, in honor of Adriana Lopez.

According to their Facebook, the performance was “for a dear friend and teacher at PS22 whose bravery and dedication to her students amidst a difficult fight with breast cancer has inspired us all… We love you, Mrs. Lopez!!”

Understandably, Lopez was moved to tears.

“It’s not easy but I will get through it because I have wonderful friends at this school,” Lopez said afterwards.
