A Brooklyn grandmother is suing New York City after she says the NYPD dragged her out of her apartment half-naked during an arrest.

Denise Stewart only had on a towel and underwear when police banged on her door in July 2014. The officers were investigating a 911 call about someone having thrown a bottle out a window of her building.

What should have been a simple inquiry quickly escalated into the 49-year-old being yanked and dragged out of her doorway and left exposed from the waist up as her towel fell to the ground.

“What they did to her is an affront to all women, especially women of color,” said lawyer Amy Rameau, who represents Stewart and filed a suit on Thursday in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Stewart’s son and two daughters were also arrested.

“They made up a story that (Denise) pulled off her clothes and said, ‘I’ll fight you all,'” Rameau said. “She’s suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes, and she’s incapable of fighting them.”

Following the incident, the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau opened an investigation and cleared the officers on the scene of any wrongdoing.
