Paramount just announced that Jill Scott and Michelle Buteau will star in The First Wives Club reboot.

The studio will transform the 1996 film that starred Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, and Sarah Jessica Parker into a 10-episode television series and we are here for it.

Jill Scott has been killing her acting gigs and made quite an impact with her frightening portrayal of Lady Eve on season 1 of Black Lightning. She will take on the role of Hazel, a superstar singer whose husband/ manager has been playing the field for years.

Buteau is best known for her roles on Key & Peele and Broad City and will play Bree, a woman who is devastated when she learns her husband has cheated on her.

Considering the fact that Girl’s Trip writer, Tracy Oliver, has been tasked to tackle the script for the show, we’re expecting nothing but the best from the long-awaited reboot. She shared the good news on Twitter.

“SO excited to welcome these two crazy talented ladies, @missjillscott and @MichelleButeau, to the #FirstWivesClub!!!” she wrote. “We bout to have @paramountnet LIT in 2019!!!,” prompting Scott to respond, “Thank you for believing.”

This seems like the perfect role for the singer who has been engaged in a very messy and very public split from her real-life husband.

No word on who else will round out the cast but if these choices are any indication, we’re in for a real treat when the show hits the small screen.
