U.S. Senate passes resolution apologizing for slavery

The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution apologizing for slavery in the United States.

Democratic Senator Tom Harkin introduced the measure several years ago but wanted it passed today, on the eve of Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. on June 19.

The resolution includes a disclamer mentioning it does not support or authorize reparations by the United States.
