Southwest Louisiana knows how to party, and Juneteenth celebrations are no different.
Juneteenth is a celebration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1862, many slaves did not get word that they were free until June 19, 1865.
Some people also consider it not only a celebration of freedom, but it also encourages people to make positive changes in their community.
