One child, three adults found dead in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Three adults and a toddler were found dead at a Kansas City home Monday and authorities were conducting a homicide investigation, police said.

The bodies were found about 4:45 p.m. at a house on a tree-lined street in the northeast Kansas community, according to a brief news release from the police department. It was not known how the four died and names were being withheld pending notification of relatives, the release said.

Messages seeking details from the department were not returned Monday night but WDAF-TV and KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Mo., reported that the victims were a 3-year-old girl, her mother, another woman and an elderly man who owned the house. The little girl was discovered in the yard and the adults inside.

Shenia Guetto, who identified herself as the girl’s aunt, told KSHB that the man who owned the house was known for helping people in need.

“If they didn’t have anywhere to go he would help them out and let them stay there … he was just a good man,” Guetto said.

Crime scene tape stretched across the road Monday about seven blocks from the house, which is located in the western part of the city in an area north of the Missouri River between Interstate 70 and U.S. 24.
