CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP) — A newborn delivered after her teenage mother was fatally shot at a school bus stop in North Carolina has died.
Multiple media outlets reported that Charlotte police said the daughter of 15-year-old Tiffany Wright died early Sunday. Wright was 32 weeks into her pregnancy when she was shot and killed before dawn Sept. 14 as she waited for a school bus.
Doctors delivered Wright’s baby, but the newborn was in critical condition from the start.
Police have not charged anybody in the shooting. Wright’s adoptive brother, 36-year-old Royce Mitchell, has been charged with statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child. Police said Wright was the victim of those crimes. He has a bond hearing Friday.
