Boston TV station WBZ is reporting on its website that Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Sergeant James Crowley were seen together at a bar in Cambridge, MA. The Harvard professor and the Cambridge police offer met at “River Gods” Wednesday evening. The pub’s owner told the station that the two sat together and talked for about an hour.
During this summer the two ignited a national debate around race when Sergeant Crowley arrested Gates at his Cambridge home. President Obama invited the two to the White House for beer to help quell racial tensions. Both Gates and Crowley promised that they would continue their conversations to help advance race relations in America.
