Blind children find the perfect Christmas tree

Picking out the perfect Christmas tree is a holiday ritual for many people. And in Zachary, Louisiana, the students from the Louisiana School for the Blind searched for just the right tree.

Deven Kemnitz knows a thing or two when it comes to picking out Christmas trees. And he doesn’t mind letting his buddies know, “It’ll take way longer decorating a giant tree than it will decorating a small tree.”

But for Kemnitz and his classmates, a task like this one takes more than a keen eye.

Everyone in Deven’s class has some form of visual impairment. So they’re relying on all their senses to find the best two trees for their classroom.

The annual trip is a favorite for students at the Louisiana School for the Blind and believe it or not…they do most of the work.

Once they agree on a tree it’ll be up to the kids to decorate it.

“When we come, it’s never the same, it’s always an adventure, it’s always different,” said Deven.
