8-year-old girl pleads with 911 dispatcher as mother dies

Detroit police have released a chilling 911 call made by a young girl trying to get help after her parents were shot. The girl was upstairs with her 6-year-old sister and frantically describes to the operator what happened.

The dispatcher tells the frantic girl to stop screaming and giver her a location.

The dispatcher directs the girl to the porch. She finally realizes where she is but the dispatcher wants information about her sister, but the dispatcher still does not have the whole picture.

Police have a suspect in the case but are still trying to locate that person. They say they released the tapes hoping someone would come forward to help them catch the man. The suspect has been identified as 42-year-old Derrick Dennard Smith and authorities are asking for the public’s help in the case.
