Terrence Howard has been tapped to play South Africa’s first black president, Nelson Mandela, in ‘Winnie.’ He will star opposite Jennifer Hudson, who will play the lead role of Winnie Mandela.
The film will be directed by Darrell J. Roodt, from a script based on the Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob biography ‘Winnie Mandela:A Life,’ Variety reported.
Howard is the latest actor to play the South African leader. Morgan Freeman received an Oscar nomination earlier this year for playing Mandela in Clint Eastwood’s 2009 rugby film ‘Invictus.’ And Danny Glover played the politician in the 1987 TV movie ‘Mandela.’
