Rev. Jesse Jackson spent a lot of time last month describing the opportunity to rebuild Detroit, but first he’ll need to rebuild the 2009 Cadillac Escalade he used while in town.
As WXYZ first reported — and we somehow overlooked at the time — Jackson’s SUV was stolen from a parking lot near the Doubletree Hotel last week Monday, just two days after he led thousands in a march for “Jobs, Justice and Peace.”

The theft occurred the same week one Mayor Dave Bing’s security vehicles suffered a similar fate and proved another embarrassment for the city as several national publications picked up the story this weekend.
