Westlake Police are on the hunt for a group of thieves who made off with a pair of fur coats valued at $5,000. Police say the employees at Sword Furs on Center Ridge Road were distracted by two suspects, while another smuggled the coats beneath her clothing and out of the store.
In the video footage, a woman is seen removing the security tags, lifting her dress and stuffing one of the fur coats down her pants, while two others are seen distracting the employees.
Furs by Weiss, another store directly across the street from Sword Furs, also fell victim to the thieves, on the first day they opened for the season. It is unclear whether the same individuals are involved in both incidents, but police are comparing descriptions to determine if there is a correlation between the two robberies. The police are asking Westlake residents for any information regarding the three suspects.
