The black and Jewish community in Baltimore met to reduce tensions after a 15-year-old boy was attacked with a radio.
“It is our strong that we can resolve this matter” said one of the leaders of the community, “And that in the future we are going to work together to make sure that in an event does not happen again.”
A former Israeli Special Forces soldier, Eliyahu Werdesheim was arrested Tuesday night for beating the African American teen.
The assault took place on the afternoon of November 19. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told WBAL News that the teen was walking in Fallstaff Road when he was beaten by security. Werdesheim is now being assaulted with reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.
Although there are no sings that the teen provoked the attack, Werdesheim’s lawyer says, however, that his client was attacked by the teen. Sources say that the teen was charged last month with auto theft.
Not all members of the community were allowed inside the meeting where community leaders discussed the issue. Many members of the community were upset that they weren’t allowed in the meeting.
