There is a reason that a Georgia man has had trouble hearing himself speak since he was a kid: He’s had a pearl stuck in his ear for 41 years.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says ER staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Ga., plucked the pearl out of Calvin Wright’s ear when he went in suffering from bronchitis.
At first, the nurse thought he had a Q-Tip stuck down there, but pulled out a pearl instead, the newspaper says.
An astounded Wright tells the Journal-Constitution that when he was five, and living in Chicago, he and his sister Regina were playing with their mother’s pearl necklace when it broke, sending the pearls scattering.
