Suspect in 12-year-old’s death gets attorney

Mona Yvette Nelson, 44, is accused of kidnapping and killing 12-year-old Jonathon Foster on Christmas Eve.

She’s been charged with capital murder in the slaying.

According to Houston Police, Nelson took Jonathon from his home, killed him and dumped the body in a ditch.

Nelson admitted to dumping the body, but claims she didn’t kill him.

Quanelle X, community activist said Nelson told him that Jonathon’s stepfather paid her $20 to dump something, not knowing that it was a body.

“We stumbled onto a wealth of evidence; evidence that showed Jonathan’s body was burned at the residence,” said Detective Mike Miller.

Police said a section of Nelson’s carpet was burned and smell of a human body filled the area.

“Do I believe she’s done it before? Yeah, I do,” Miller said. “I don’t think she began and ended with the abduction of Jonathan Foster.”

Nelson who is now assigned a court-appointed attorney, might be involved in other deaths according to detectives.
