Mother reportedly pulls son out of school to rob bank

Police in Dekalb County, Georgia have a 35-year-old mother in custody after they say she pulled her son out of school Friday to help her rob a bank.

Police report that Tawander Simmons of Stone Mountain and two teens—-one of them her son, held up a Wells Fargo Bank around 9 a.m. Friday while a third teen waited in the car, police said.

There are conflicting reports however about how Simmons met with the teens and her son, 17-year-old Benny Brice.

A Lilburn Police Spokesman told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Simmons picked up her son and two boys from Stepehenson High School to assist in the robbery.

School police report however that only Brice came to school and decided to leave because the other two had skipped.

DeKalb school officials later said none of the teenagers came to school Friday.
