The city of Detroit is taking extreme measures to get out of financial melee and closing half its schools.
The Associated Press reports that State education officials ordered the emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools to immediately implement the plan to balance the city’s books.
The Detroit News says the new financial restructuring will increase class sizes to as many as 60 students.

Bobb’s plan promises to wipe out the district’s $327 million deficit by 2014.
