Courtney Isiah Thomas turned himself in after allegedly writing a threatening message on a restroom wall at Birmingham’s Seaholm high school listing 5 students names including his own, and the n-word.
It’s said to be a response to a case last winter in which a white student made a pamphlet with names and Courtney Thomas’s picture with a noose about his neck and the n-word was used.
That student, school officials confirm was given a suspension and is back in school now.
Other incidents this spring caused school officials to hold special meetings with students, parents and teachers.
Courtney Thomas is out on personal bond, and is out of school even through he’s set to graduate in days. Alternative schooling is being worked out.
His defense attorney says this case is likely to be resolved without any jail time.
