Since Friday, May 6, police have been looking for two people described as a man with a feminine voice and a possibly transgendered woman who stole about $9,000 worth of handbags and clothing from Nordstrom Westfarms mall since 2010.
On Thursday, police arrested Keshawn Anthony Roberts, 23. The mugshots released show Roberts with and without a wig.
Roberts and an accomplice are accused of stealing several handbags worth $1,756 on Friday, May 6, Farmington police said. They believe Roberts is a suspect in three thefts from Norstrom overall between August 2010 and May 2011.
On Aug. 1. 2010, five Coach purses, three Juicy Couture bags and three Marc by Marc Jacobs purses were taken, police said. Together, they were worth $2,828.
On May 6, 2011, seven Coach purses worth $1.756 were taken, police said. Then, on May 18, seven Kenna T Blush jackets, a Valentino trench coat and two Alice and Olivia cashmere sweaters were taken, police said.
As store employees tried to stop the robbers on May 6, one threatened to “knife” them, police said. No knife was actually shown and it’s not clear whether Roberts or an accomplice were armed.
Roberts has an extensive criminal history and Farmington police and officers from several towns have warrants for arrest, Farmington police said.
Police have not identified the second person.
