The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has dismissed complaints that a Cadbury’s chocolate advert was racist, a month after the company apologised to supermodel Naomi Campbell.
The British fashion model was outraged by newspaper and billboard adverts for the chocolate bar that she believes are racist. The litigious star is also considering legal action over the ads and has won the support of the rights group Operation Black Vote, who have asked the group to apologise.
The advert, pictured above, features a shot of a Dair Milk Bliss underneath the slogan, ‘Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town’. The ASA, however, has ruled that the commercial was ‘likely to be understood to refer to Naomi Campbell’s reputation for ‘diva-style’ behaviour rather than her race’.
