Employees at a Germantown bar forced a man to leave because he was smoking indoors. But he came back with a gun, and opened fire on the bar’s patrons. The shots hit 6 and killed one around 12:45 a.m. Sunday. The incident happened at Genesis Bar, on Wayne and Roberts Avenue in North Philadelphia.

According to authorities, patrons complained about the man smoking inside the bar, and he was asked to leave. Smoking is illegal inside Philadelphia bars.
Police said the man returned with two others, and he opened fire inside the bar. The victim who died, 44-year-old Carl Sharper, was shot once in the head, police said.

“I am numb, not because I’m angry but I still can’t believe it,” said Drexie Charles, Sharper’s fiance.
