Authorities said a man charged with murder who escaped custody at D.C. Superior Court Friday was back in custody on Saturday afternoon.

James Brewer, 24, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals at 1:50 p.m. The U.S. Marshal service said they concluded their search for him “after hours of intense man-hunting.”

Brewer, accompanied with his attorney, turned himself in at the 600 block of D Street Northwest, by arrangement.

Police allege that Brewer is responsible for the shooting death of 71-year-old Solomon Reese on June 27. The murder victim had operated a small business selling cigarettes from his apartment, and investigators suspected robbery as a motive for the killing.

Nicknamed “Sticky,” Brewer appeared in D.C. Superior Court on Friday afternoon for first degree murder.
