ATLANTA – Teachers and administrators may have to repay bonuses due to a possible introduction of a bill for APS schools involved in the cheating scandal.
State Rep. Billy Mitchell (D-Stone Mountain) plans to introduce the bill — requiring teachers and administrators who have confessed to the standardized tests crime to not become “unjustly enriched, while their students are placed in peril.”

According to Mitchell, accused teachers involved in what’s being called “the nation’s worst cheating scandal”, which implicated 178 educators, will have the chance to defend themselves with any of the charges before the required repayment.
The Georgia Federation of Teachers and the Georgia Association of Educators will support the bill.
