DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit man has been sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison for the rapes of six women and the attempted rape of a seventh.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office says Raynard Coleman’s attempt Friday to have an earlier plea withdrawn was denied by Circuit Judge Craig Strong.
Coleman was charged with multiple kidnapping, rape and armed robbery counts.
He was arrested in January in connection with the attacks on the city’s east side. The victims were walking alone, waiting at bus stops or driving alone when they were forced into vacant houses, robbed and sexually assaulted.
Coleman was paroled in 2009 after serving 14 years for attempted murder and assault with intent to rob.
A phone call from The Associated Press to Coleman’s lawyer went unanswered on Friday.
