Hazing on agenda of FAMU meeting after death

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Hazing is on the agenda of a meeting of Florida A&M University of trustees.

The trustees begin a two-day meeting in Orlando on Wednesday.

The meeting is starting off with a session addressing hazing following the death of FAMU band member Robert Champion.

Champion died Nov. 19 aboard a band bus following a football game against rival Bethune Cookman.

Detectives are investigating the role of hazing in Champion’s death.

The 26-year-old drum major’s death led to the firing of FAMU’s band leader, the temporary shuttering of the band and the expulsion of four students.
