Waynesboro elect first female and African-American mayor

Waynesboro, GA —The city of Waynesboro will ring in the new-year with their first ever African-American and female Mayor.

Pauline Jenkins won last night’s run-off election by just six votes against incumbent George Deloache.

The new face of Waynesboro is a historic one. With just six votes, Pauline W. Jenkins become the city’s new mayor-elect. She is both the first African American and female to hold the job, “I hope that people don’t think by me being a female that I will be a soft leader. I will be firm but fair,” said Jenkins.
