Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

When the White House released their 2011 Christmas card they probably didn’t bargain that it would become a source of controversy. The gorgeously rendered card portrays the Obama family dog Bo relaxing by a White House fireplace, with some gifts appearing on a table nearby.

The inside of the card reads, “From our family to yours, may your holidays shine with the light of the season.” It also features the presidential seal.

Apparently the image and message were off-putting to former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who attacked the card on Fox News this week. She claims the card fails to accentuate “family, faith and freedom.”

Looks like even in this season of giving, the president’s foes still manage to find fault in his most benign gestures.
