Hue Jackson reportedly fired by the Oakland Raiders

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — A person with knowledge of the situation says the Oakland Raiders have fired coach Hue Jackson after one season and a disappointing 8-8 record.

ESPN first reported Jackson’s firing. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Tuesday because the move had not yet been announced ahead of the Raiders’ scheduled 2 p.m. PST news conference to introduce new general manager Reggie McKenzie.

The Raiders missed the playoffs for the ninth straight year, losing four out of five after a promising 7-4 start.

Jackson was promoted from offensive coordinator by late owner Al Davis, who died Oct. 8. Davis’ son, Mark, is now making some of the top decisions.

Jackson made the debated October trade for quarterback Carson Palmer after starter Jason Campbell was lost for the season to injury.
