According to the 2005 US Census, 45 percent of American children under the age of 5 belong to minority groups. Nevertheless, the driving force behind most American media continues to be the white majority.

Bryan Green, our Philadelphia-based Game Changer Fellow, wanted to know what it takes to counter the mindlessness of most mainstream media so he explored the work documentary filmmaker Louis Massiah.

For more than 30 years, Louis Massiah has offered the world his unique vision as a documentary filmmaker particularly concerned with social equity issues and telling stories that lift up lesser known cultural, social, and historical concepts.

He is founder and executive director of Scribe Video Center in Philadelphia, a community-based organization that offers professional training in film and video production. He has devoted his career to revealing truths that mainstream media ignores as well as mentoring many young black filmmakers at his Scribe Video Center. For his resilience and commitment to his craft, Louis Massiah is a true Game Changer.
