TheGrio's 100: Christopher 'Ludacris' Bridges, rapper helps underserved youth through his foundation

Grammy Award-winning rapper and actor Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, 34, is well-known in music circles, but through the Ludacris Foundation, Bridges has been nationally recognized for his commitment to young people of all ages.

The Atlanta-based rapper started the foundation in 2001, and since then the non-profit has made a global impact. Some of its projects include feeding families for Thanksgiving, putting on an annual holiday party for over 1,000 children in need and working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help realize the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The foundation also puts on leadership forums for high school and college students and provides school supplies to children.

Through its myriad of efforts in giving an extra hand to youth who need it most, Bridges’ foundation lives up to its goal of “helping youth to help themselves.”

Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges is making history as… a rapper who has used his power and influence to create a foundation that helps youth around the country. With sponsors such as Def Jam Records and the Creative Artists Agency, Ludacris has brought the Hollywood community together to bring about positive change to upcoming generations.

What’s next for Christopher?

Aside from his foundation, Bridges is releasing his highly-anticipated eighth studio album, called “Ludaversal,” this May. He also helped his 10-year-old daughter Karma launch Karma’s World, an educational interactive website for children. Karma is also featured on this year’s Grio’s 100 list.

A little-known fact…

While Bridges grew up in Atlanta since age nine, he was born in Champaign, Illinois.
