Martin Lawrence may soon be returning to the format that made him a household name. CBS has greenlit a pilot for new comedy series featuring Lawrence as a recently unemployed, middle-aged man who decides to become a police officer. Lawrence’s breakthrough sitcom Martin was a staples of 1990s-era Fox. The Hollywood Reporter has more:
CBS has given a late-season pilot order to a comedy project starring Martin Lawrence.

Lawrence will star in the multicamera pilot about a widowed father of two teens who, after losing his construction job, opts to enroll at the police academy in an effort to become a cop at the ripe old age of 46.
